Jonna Martin

Personal: 43; married.

Occupation: President of AdvanceMe Associates, a corporate training firm founded in 2001 that specializes in programs about professional business image, business etiquette and dining etiquette.

Community activities: President of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Greater Rochester Chapter; member of the Wellesley College Alumnae Club; member of the NY National Speakers Association.

My favorite thing to do in Rochester: My husband and I love to go hiking with our dog at Powder Mills Park.

Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: I was working in trust sales at a bank in Philadelphia and received a call from a recruiter for a large brokerage firm that had just formed a trust company. I spoke with him for a few minutes and he told me that I was not “cool” enough to work for the firm. Furious, I obtained the cell number of the hiring manager and told him that he would not be receiving my name from the recruiter, but that I would be perfect for the job and that he should grant me an interview. He did and I was hired into one of the best jobs I have ever had.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: To live and work overseas with my husband and to be immersed in another culture for a year.

If I could change one thing about myself it would be: I would take more risks and be braver every day.

The talent I would most like to have: To be able to fix my computer when it acts up…ever since Vista I have longed for this gift.

The one thing I can’t live without: My Blackberry, I admit it, I am addicted to the thing.

The song that best describes my life: "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles.

Actress I’d like to portray me in a movie about my life: Reese Witherspoon.
