Personal: 38; married with one awesome 7-year-old boy!
Occupation: Artistic Director, Rochester City Ballet.
Community activities: I work typically seven days a week, so my community involvement is generally based around RCB events, sharing ballet with children. For example, RCB does story readings at local libraries and performs for elementary school students. One of my favorites is our annual visit to Stepping Stones Learning Center.
My favorite thing to do in Rochester: I love taking walks on along lake Ontario with my husband and son. Living in Webster, there are many great places to get close to the water.
Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: I can’t put my finger on one specific challenge. If I had to choose one thing, I would say having a ballet company growing at such a fast pace, and the new challenges that presents everyday. Determination and a great team — that’s what get me through it all.
One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: Choreograph a Broadway show! It’s always been a dream of mine.
If I could change one thing about myself it would be: I would grow a “thicker skin.”
The talent I would most like to have: I want to know how to read music.
The one thing I can’t live without: The people in my life: my son, husband, family, dancers and co-workers are very dear to me. I can’t imagine my life with out them. But I am sure they would agree that I would be just miserable living without dance in my life. Dance is my passion.
The song that best describes my life: It’s a tie between Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and Aretha Franklin’s “RESPECT.”
One of my favorite sayings is: Luck favors the well prepared.
Actress I’d like to portray me in a movie about my life: Natalie Portman.
