Personal: 35; single.
Occupation: Attorney at Chamberlain D’Amanda. Although my firm is full service, I focus my practice on business, corporate, and real estate law.
Community activities: Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Hickok Center for Brain Injury; Member of the Business Law Council of the Monroe County Bar Association; Member of the Parks-Meigs Neighborhood Association; Member of the Notre Dame Club of Rochester; Member, Rochester Women’s Network; Member of the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys (GRAWA).
My favorite thing to do in Rochester: I grew up in Rochester, but moved away following college. When I moved back to Rochester in 2005, I visited the many neighborhoods and towns around Rochester and chose to live in the Park Avenue neighborhood. I bought a house there two years ago. I enjoy, among other things, walking my yellow lab around Park Avenue and window shopping on a quiet weekend day.
Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: This is a difficult question, but I have to answer honestly and say that going through a divorce is the biggest challenge I have faced so far. I got through the tough times by learning how to ask friends and family for support. Asking for help does not come naturally to me.
One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: I have not yet taken a long road trip to visit the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore, but I think it would be a lot of fun.
If I could change one thing about myself it would be: I would be good at sports. I love watching college football (Go Irish!), but I am not an athlete myself.
The talent I would most like to have: I wish I had a talent for carpentry so that I could fix up my 100-year-old house without hiring others to do the work.
The one thing I can’t live without: My dog, Maggie. I adopted Maggie when I was in law school and she is my best friend and constant companion. I’m totally nuts about my dog.
The song that best describes my life: I love music and I have never been able to pick just one song as my favorite. For this question, I’m going to pick the soundtrack from “Pretty in Pink” as my life soundtrack, but I reserve the right to change it tomorrow.
One of my favorite sayings is: Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. When I was in school, I marched with the Gates-Chili and Patriots winterguards. We had a pre-competition ritual of chanting the phrase, which is loosely based in an actual quote. Now, when I’m starting something that seems difficult, I recite the line in my mind and it helps me to focus my thoughts.
Actress I’d like to portray me in a movie about my life: I would want Tina Fey to portray me because assuming my movie doesn’t go directly to DVD, everyone in the movie audience deserves a laugh after paying $9 to get into the theater.
