Personal: Lives in Fairport. Married to Thomas E. Cummings, with two step-children, Andria and Patrick, and one granddaughter, Santasia.
Occupation: Associate Dean, College of Imaging Arts & Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Community activities: Steering Committee, Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation (RAFEF): chair of Judging Committee for Rochester Business Ethics Award and member of Governance Committee for RABEF; Rochester Women’s Network member and chair of Nominating 2009 Committee; Friends of Sheila Gaddis Campaign committee member; Rochester Women’s Network chair of 2009 “W” Award Committee; past member Rochester Women’s Network Board of Directors and Executive Committee; Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley 2001 Tribute Book Committee; past member and board chair of YWCA Board of Directors.
My favorite thing to do in Rochester: I love to tour new and historical homes. I also enjoy patronizing the arts, specifically GEVA, R.P.O. and Garth Fagan Dance.
Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: One of the biggest challenges I have faced was pursuing a doctoral degree while managing a very demanding career. However, by keeping focus, and because of my ability to multi-task and prioritize, I succeeded in reaching this goal.
One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: I love tennis, and I have always wanted to sit in the stands at Wimbledon and the French Open tennis matches.
If I could change one thing about myself it would be: To improve my sense of direction, because I can get lost quicker than anyone.
The talent I would most like to have: I would love to be a true pianist versus someone who barely plays. Additionally, I would love to be able to ice skate as it is such a beautiful artist expression.
The one thing I can’t live without: God, my family and my coffee.
The song that best describes my life: “Still I Rise,” by Yolanda Adams.
One of my favorite sayings is: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
Actress I’d like to portray me in a movie about my life: Angela Bassett, because she is beautiful, extremely talented, and she portrays strong women in her movie roles.
