Lauren Burns

Personal: 49, of Penfield; widowed, with one child.

Occupation: Managing Director/Owner Bonadio Payroll Services, LLC.

Community activities: Rochester Women of Rotary member and Budget Committee chairperson; St. John Fisher College Scholarship Committee and Silent Auction Committee chairperson; East Rochester Chamber member; TIP Club Member; Rochester Women’s Network member and Network Rochester member.

My favorite thing to do in Rochester: Wow, there are so many things to do: Take long walks along the canal or Ontario Lake coastline, visit the wonderful restaurants, shop and down hill ski.

Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: I was widowed at 36-years-old and with no warning or time to prepare for this life alerting experience. I had a 6-year-old son to raise on my own and with determination and assistance from friends and family; he turned into a successful, intelligent and caring young man.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: Travel to Europe or cruise the Mediterranean!

If I could change one thing about myself it would be: My inability to “just chill”; to be able to realize it is okay to take an entire day off from work or my outside responsibilities.

The talent I would most like to have:Some artist capabilities.

The one thing I can’t live without: Choosing one thing is difficult, so I will list two: the support of family and friends and my excellent health.

My favorite movie: The Bodyguard, both for the music and the story line.

One of my favorite sayings is: Simplicity is the essence of good design.

A person who has inspired me (and why): My parents; their commitment to each other and their family over the past 53 years of marriage is inspirational. They taught me that I can do anything if I choose to do so, even play drums when it was unfashionable for females to do so 40 years ago.
