Kymberly A. Bailey

Personal: 39, of Pittsford; married with two children (a girl and boy) ages 13 and 11.

Occupation: Practice Director for Finance & Accounting at Cochran, Cochran & Yale, and Adjunct Professor of Accounting Profession and Careers in Business at SUNY Brockport and RIT.

Community activities: board member, Pittsford Youth Football; board member, Fairy Godmothers of Rochester; board member, Employment Network; St. Louis Church; past Accounting Advisory Board member, SUNY Brockport; team manager, Pittsford Mustang Soccer League; Odyssey of the Mind coach (took two different teams to state competition after winning First Place regionally); Girl Scout leader; American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Walk volunteer co-chairperson;
NYSSCPA’s COAP Program, class presenter; Saint’s Place volunteer, St. Louis Church.

My favorite thing to do in Rochester: Attend several of the community festivals. My family enjoys as many as we can each year. Several that we enjoy are: Positively Pittsford, Fairport Canal Days and the Lilac Festival. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful community events that are fun for the whole family.

Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: I am afraid of heights. In college I took a ROTC class. I rappelled buildings, flew in helicopters and shot M16’s. My love of adventure helped me overcome my fear, teaching me that perseverance is tackling small obstacles each day. Doing this, there is no limit to what can be done!

One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: Have another child. My children have brought so much joy into my life! I could only imagine how wonderful life would be with one more child in our family.

If I could change one thing about myself it would be: Continue my education and get a MBA/PHD.

The talent I would most like to have: I am terrible at telling jokes, and I wish I could make a room full of people roll around laughing at one of my jokes.

The one thing I can’t live without: My family.

My favorite movie: Pretty Woman.

One of my favorite sayings is: "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." — Ralph Waldo Emerson

A person who has inspired me (and why): My father has inspired me. He has encouraged and paid for his three daughters to go to college and become independent and successful women. He is a brilliant man who has dedicated his life to raising strong, independent daughters. His path has led me to being the best I can be. This includes giving back to the community and others, ethics, honesty and hard work.
