Personal: 26, of Brighton, single.
Occupation: Electronic communications specialist for Rochester Institute of Technology Alumni Relations & Development.
Community activities: I serve on the steering and outreach committees for the Eastman Young Professionals. EYP is a volunteer group that promotes the legacy left by George Eastman and encourages young professional involvement in Rochester’s rich arts and cultural scene. We plan several networking events at Eastman House and serve as advocates and ambassadors for Eastman House through community involvement.
My favorite things to do in Rochester: Anything at Eastman House or the Dryden Theatre. I also enjoy Red Wings baseball games and riding my bike along the Erie Canal during the summer.
Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: Learning to balance work, graduate school, and my personal life. This is a constant challenge because somehow I think that I have more than 24 hours in a day. The best way for me to get everything done is to stay focused.
One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: Go to Wimbledon with my mom. It’s been my dream since I was a kid. I guess I’ve finally accepted the fact that I will probably never attend as a player, but would love to someday attend as a spectator. I am a huge fan — I have chills just thinking about it.
If I could change one thing about myself it would be: The ability to totally relax. I feel like I constantly need to be working on something. I can’t sit still.
The talent I would most like to have: I’ve always wanted to be ambidextrous. I guess that is not really a talent, but I think I would have more talents if my left side was somehow more useful.
The one thing I can’t live without: Time to play. Whether it is working on a web project outside of my work at RIT or playing sports, free time to explore new things and have fun is very important to me. It keeps me active, well-rounded, and more creative.
My favorite movie: Mary Poppins.
One of my favorite sayings is: The path to success is paved by the way you make others successful.
A person who has inspired me (and why): There are many people who inspire me, so it’s really hard to pick just one. I feel very fortunate to have been raised by two parents who have shown me that anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself. I’m also extremely grateful to have some incredible mentors/friends who I look up to and who inspire me to be a better person everyday. I don’t know what I would do without them.
