Personal: 52, of Canadice, Ontario County.
Occupation: Owner, sole proprietor, chief cook and bottle washer of Mackerel Sky Books & More.
Community activities: Member of Honeoye Chamber of Commerce, participant in Captain Redbeard’s Feast, provided prizes for a program at Honeoye Elementary School.
My favorite thing to do in Rochester: Visit friends.
Biggest challenge I’ve overcome and how I did it: Starting over, again. New home, new business, new life. With help from the Small Business Administration at Buffalo State College and First Niagara Bank, I was able to get started on the planning last year and opened my shop in April of 2010. Sheer force of will and being completely enamored with the idea of working for myself got me where I am today. It’s also what keeps me here, I’m having a lot of fun.
One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have: Travel to Hawaii.
If I could change one thing about myself it would be: Improve self-control in the areas of health and fitness.
The talent I would most like to have: Winning the lottery on multiple occasions.
The one thing I can’t live without: Books.
My favorite movie: That is a tough one to choose, there are so many! I’ll go with Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan today.
One of my favorite sayings is: ‘This, too, shall pass.’
A person who has inspired me (and why): My mom. She’s a tough cookie and always has a great outlook on people, family and life.
